Lost Son

Lost Son, although it wasn’t a morning spent with guests, myself and a trainee embarked on a morning game drive to the southern side of the game reserve to relocate the Lion pride. As we reached the last known location of the pride, we began searching for signs to track them. We disembarked and scoured the area until we found tracks leading westward.

Returning to the game viewer, we followed the tracks on the road and, to our amazement, stumbled upon the pride right in the middle of the road. It was then that this curious young male lion seized the opportunity to approach the game viewer closely, affording me the chance for a remarkable close-up shot.

Sadly, this photo turned out to be the last one I captured of him, as he vanished a couple of weeks later, never to be found again.
